Introduction to the Math Puzzle

Today’s challenge is a great way to find out if you are a smart person with good logical thinking skills. It is considered one of the most difficult puzzles of the day and only 1% of people have successfully solved it.

The challenge is in the form of a hexagon containing 9 numbers that are placed in various geometric shapes: square, circle, triangle, etc.

Your goal is to find the missing number in place of the question mark. To do this, you have a maximum of 30 seconds.

To find the solution, you will need to use logic and common sense to analyze the situation. You will also need to be in a quiet place to concentrate. Take the time to examine the elements and try to find a relationship between them.

Answer to the mathematical riddle

The number you needed to find was 13. Were you able to find the missing number? If you found the same answer, it means you took the right logical approach.

Don’t be discouraged if you didn’t find the right answer. We will explain how to proceed to find the solution to the puzzle.

As a mathematical challenge, the solution must be the result of logical reasoning. It is a question of establishing a relationship between the numbers and the geometric shapes that contain them. Thus, each number had to be added to the number of sides of the figure that contains it.

According to the geometric figures:

  • Round (0 sides): contains the numbers 3 and 5.
  • Triangle (3 sides): contains the numbers 16 and 6. Thus: 16 + 3 = 19 and 6 + 3 = 9.
  • Square (4 sides): contains the numbers 3, 9, and the missing number. Thus; 3 + 4 = 7 and 9 + 4 = 13
  • Pentagon (5 sides): contains the number 10. Thus, 10 + 5 = 15.
  • Hexagon (6 sides): contains the number 5. Thus, 5 + 6 = 11.

So you get a series consisting of 8 odd numbers: 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 19, and the missing digit.

Based on this logic, the missing number is 13, to which we had to add 4 to obtain the number 17.
