The solution
Here is the reasoning you had to follow to get the right answers in this IQ test.
In the first equation, you have three identical kinds of cheese, with 5 holes, whose sum is 75. The value of a cheese with 5 holes is then 25.
In the second equation, you have the sum of two kinds of cheese with 4 holes plus a mouse equal to 50, such that 20 + 20 + 10 = 50.
Finally, the last equation gives 5 which is the subtraction between a cheese with 3 holes and a mouse: 15 – 10 = 5.
Thus you can conclude as follows:
- Mouse = 10,
- Cheese with 5 holes = 25,
- Cheese with 4 holes = 20,
- Cheese with 3 holes = 15.
But if you look closely, you are asked for the value of a cheese with 1 hole. To get it, you just have to follow the logic concerning the value of the other cheeses. Then you have the value of a cheese with 2 holes equal to 10 and for 1 hole, the value is 5.
